It’s a cold grey day, rainy with a sharp chill in the air, reminding me that Winter is just a few days away. The garden sings for this refreshment is long overdue, but now as I look at it I see no hint of dryness or the despair of my favourite plants. All is well, and there is expectation for new growth and excitement in the plans I have in the back of my mind. Our hearts can feel dry and in pain for many reasons, just like the plants when the cool refreshing rain, no longer falls, and it has to rely on a small supply of water in the midst of drought.
Many hearts are hurting, and they are relying on occasional words of encouragement from friends, and strangers. Their loved ones have stopped caring in many families today, and there is a drought of affection, unconditional love, and forgiveness. We wonder why people take their lives. Well, when the stab of emotional pain is that intense, it is no different to an accident requiring medical attention. Immediate help needs to be available at that point, when you can’t think straight and see no reason to continue to live. The world’s refugees are hurting, they feel the lack of compassion, the neglect of those who have the power to relate hope and care to people displaced by no fault of their own. We all need the miracle of life, but much more than that we need the miracle of love.
No matter where we come from or who we are, whether old or young rich or poor, we all need love to be healthy happy and strong. As I look at the transformation of my garden, watch a tiny flower peek through the ground. Stand amazed when birds hurry to and fro making their nest, singing while they work, God speaks to me through the beautiful works of nature and seems to say to me I love my people even more than every animal and bird, only they don’t search for me with their whole heart, even though I am searching for them. I can be found very easily just reach out with your heart even though you may be in pain, I am the healer and I can transform your life.
When we hurt we find it so hard to trust others, for we expect to be hurt again, and we can not bare the thought of rejection from one more person. That is ok God can cope with our doubts, he only asks that you make the choice to trust him. His love is like no other love, and when we allow him into our heart we have made the first steps to receive healing for our hurting heart.
It’s a daily walk, of accepting that God loves us all. There are many things he wants to show us, speak to us about, and above all he has a great desire to bless his people teaching them the meaning of family. The unconditional love of God the Father is awesome. This is where you come to understand your birth was no mistake, you were wanted and you are loved.
It is love that is the greatest gift of all. There is healing in a sincere heart felt prayer for someone. An act of kindness a visit whether to a hospital or nursing home, or a prison. Someone is going to know they are thought about, and it just might make a difference and bring them hope.
Our world can be a cold hard place. It is a place where fear delights to live, and where judgement crushes a person’s soul. Love can be difficult to find in an environment where God is forbidden to come. And we can forget he is our maker and very best friend. He will never leave your side even when you do wrong and all your friends walk away. God’s love is constant he is committed to healing our hurting hearts. Don’t despair if it seems to be taking a long time, it will be worth the wait and you have all of eternity to enjoy it. Bless you on your journey from Carol Christophers.
