Digging Deep

Spread the love

Psalm278-150x150
I have this habit of waking early each morning  struggling with  thoughts of what the future may hold. It is painful when these thoughts dominate, because I know fear has no place in a christian’s life. I wouldn’t dare share that in church, or to certain Christian people, because I know, the kind of answers they have readily and kindly available to share. I have used them in sharing with people, with the best intentions to help them.
Now in this season of my life, I am struggling to control negative and hurtful words and ideas, that are flooding my mind, and though I repeat scripture, and try to think of good things the day might hold, I am not completely winning the battle.
I know myself I still have a way to go in trusting God completely, but that doesn’t mean I don’t trust him at all, it just means I am struggling, to let go, to accept my situation and rest in God’s perfect plan for my life.
I was talking to God this morning, asking what more could I do, when I felt him say in my heart sometimes you have to dig deep, until you find the living water, this brings refreshment for the soul and confidence for the future. The first step for me is the acceptance of the battle I am in, and then realizing that as God’s child I am not going through this as someone who belongs to this world. I am going through the battle with God in control, and he will bring me through to victory at the perfect time.
He reminded me about the woman who came to the well in the day to draw water. She had a physical need to drink and be refreshed, but Jesus knew she had a spiritual need and emotional need to find peace and healing. He told her about the living water, and told her she would never thirst again once receiving it. She had to draw down into the well to get water to drink, but Jesus could give her lasting refreshment that would satisfy her soul and her spirit.
I had thought that this might come automatically to a child of God, but it seems for me he wants me to dig down a little deeper. I suspect this means meditating in his presence and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead me in the word of God and give me fresh revelation of his self. No one can borrow another person’s faith, and you can’t buy faith. We are all given a certain measure, and then it is up to us to do what is necessary to make it grow.

Perhaps you are going through a difficult Season, or maybe you have already come through and tasted that victory we all long for. I invite you to share your thoughts, we can learn from each other.
